This forest area covers an area of 800 hectares on the shores of the Mediterranean.<\/p>

Originally, it was a set of mobile sand dunes that were fixed by planting various plant species such as pines, palms, cypresses and eucalyptus from a reforestation project in the late nineteenth century, led by the forestry engineer Mr. Francisco Mira y Botella.<\/p>

Over four decades, more than 600,000 trees were planted. This created a landscape environment of extraordinary ecological, cultural and tourist attraction.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

The Reina Sofia Park is part of the pine forest, located within the urban area, with ponds with aquatic fauna and large playgrounds for children, all under the shade of the centennial pine trees populated by squirrels, one of the symbols of this park.<\/p>

It is a favorite meeting point for families with children.<\/p>

Tabarca<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Santa Pola is the closest point of the Peninsula to Tabarca, the only inhabited island of the Valencian Community belonging to the city of Alicante, located just 3 miles from the Cape. From the port of Santa Pola, boats depart throughout the year to the island, declared a national historic site in 1964.<\/p>

Tabarca is a unique place that captures with its history, making us remember that it inspired artists and attracted pirates. In fact, to put an end to piracy, the island was fortified and populated by inhabitants of the island of Tabarqah (Tabarka) located in Tunisia. From this period (18th century) remain the walls, the gates of San Gabriel, San Miguel and San Rafael, the defensive tower of San Jos\u00e9, the Governor’s House and the Church. At the eastern end of the island is the lighthouse, from the 19th century.<\/p>

It is also a true marine paradise (recognized in 1986 as the first marine reserve in the country) with crystal clear waters and spectacular fauna and flora that will delight diving enthusiasts. The coastline is jagged, formed by small cliffs a few meters high, with pebble beaches and a single sandy beach with clear waters.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Where to anchor:<\/strong> Tabarca beach has a sandy bottom and a depth sounding of 3 to 11 meters. It is protected from N. and E. winds.
Under the church there is seaweed bottom and the area is protected from S. and SE winds.

If you are a bird enthusiast, whether you are a keen amateur or a seasoned professional, Guardamar and the southern Costa Blanca offer a wide variety of peculiar species, as well as more common ones.<\/p>

The spring and autumn migratory seasons bring with them, of course, many waterfowl.<\/p>

This is a plus for water watchers, who will be able to see up close a large number of species such as the grey heron, the crab heron, the common pochard or the three-toed sandpiper. We can even find species that are more difficult to observe such as the white-headed duck or the marbled teal.<\/p>

In addition to the mouth of the Segura River in Guardamar, we can find nearby places as emblematic as the El Hondo de Elche-Crevillente Natural Park, the Santa Pola-Elche Salt Flats or the La Mata and Torrevieja Salt Flats -partly in the municipality of Guardamar- and all less than 15 minutes away by car.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
